Mission

The mission of the Youth Ministry at Corpus Christi is to provide a safe environment for all youth, no matter where they attend school.  We will provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth of each young person.  We will also promote the active participation of the youth in the life, mission and work of our faith community.

Youth ministry serves all youth in grades 6 through 12, regardless of whether they attend public or parochial school.

Youth ministry is a multidimensional reality, but all of its varied facets are brought into focus by a common dedication to the following goals:

1. Youth ministry works to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
2. Youth ministry needs to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the faith community.

Special events, retreats and social outings vary throughout the year.  Contact Maria Juvera at 719-633-1457 for specific information on different programs.

Youth Liturgies

Youth Liturgies provide a chance for the youth to participate in all of the ministries involved in the liturgy.  Youth provide music, hospitality, lectors and eucharistic ministers.  All youth in grades 6 to 12 are invited to participate.  We will celebrate many throughout the year; dates and times will be announced.  We know that the liturgy is an important part of our faith as Catholics.  That is why we try to integrate the youth into the existing liturgies rather than set them apart with their own celebration.. This way we are celebrating as a family.

Bible Studies

Bible study groups will be set up for those who wish to "break open the Word."  Dates and times will vary.

Drama

Living Stations of the Cross are open to any students in grade 6 through 12.  Practice times vary.  Other drama opportunities will be presented throughout the year.

Youth Choir

Youth Ministry Director

Maria Juvera had been Coordinator of Youth Ministry at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and School since September 1994.  Maria has been in youth ministry for over nineteen years.  She has a Certificate in Youth Ministry from the Center of Youth Ministry Development, and a Four Year Certificate in Scripture from Benet Hill.  She is a member of New Creation Ministries, a Christian Music Ministry based in Colorado Springs, whose focus is to bring revival to their lives and those they touch as a result of prayer, song and a Christ-centered message. Maria also helps to direct the children's, middle school and high school choirs.  She is a Cantor, a Lector, and a Eucharistic Minister.
